The Karan Johar produced Shakun Batra directed film Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu starring Imran Khan and Kareena Kapoor has run into trouble. It is learnt that the film which is ready with its first trailer ran into trouble with the censor board objecting to the use of the word ‘sex’ in it. The censor board has given the trailer an ‘A’ certificate.

The scene in question is when a person asks Kareena and Imran whether they have had sex, to which they respond ‘yes’ and ‘no’ respectively. Apparently, with the new dikat of not allowing beeping out of words, the makers are working on creating a new trailer sans the word ‘sex’ for ‘U’ certification of the trailer.

However, till the new trailer is ready, the current one will be played along with The Dirty Picture that releases on December 2.

Arjun Rampal who turned a year older on 26/11 isn’t quite sure whether director Madhur Bhandarkar planned it. But when he reached the set for the first day

of shooting for Heroine, Arjun was told that it’s his character’s birthday and that he would be doing a cake-cutting sequence with his co-star Kareena

Kapoor.

According to a source, Arjun plays an on-the-rise actor who latches on to the top actress of the day. Any resemblance to the equation that Dharmendra shared

with Meena Kumari when they did films like Phool Aur Patthar, Kajal, Purnima, Bharaon Ki Manzil Chandan Ka Palna and Majhli Didi together is

purely coincidental.

The birthday sequence that Bhandarkar shot for Arjun’s character fell on Arjun’s birthday. Filmy folklore has it that Meena Kumari celebrated Dharmendra’s

birthday on the sets of one of their films together and even insisted that they incorporate the celebration in the film that they were shooting together.

Laughed Arjun, “I don’t know if Madhur planned it that way. But we ended up shooting my character’s birthday cake-cutting scene on my birthday on Saturday.

Normally you’ve a star cutting a cake on his birthday on the sets. But doing it on camera in character is, I think slightly unusual.”
Arjun is all praise for his Heroine co-star Kareena.
“She looked stunning on the shooting today,” the actor said appreciatively as he headed home for a birthday party after the first day’s shooting of

Bhandarkar’s film.

Said Arjun, “Nothing major. Just a small get-together for close friends. The past year has been pretty eventful. I hope the coming year too remains the same

way.”

Recently, Arjun turned a TV host for a show called Love 2 Hate U where we hear, he is trying to convince his close friends from the film industry

including Karan Johar, Hrithik Roshan and Shah Rukh Khan to come face-to-face with the one ‘fan’ who purports to hate them the most.
Apparently, the three super-celebrities have expressed misgivings to Arjun about confronting their pet hate.
Says Arjun, “I am sure they all would agree to come on my show. I recorded an episode with Farah Khan and Farhan Akhtar recently. By the end of the show,

their supposed haters ended up loving their objects of proclaimed detestation.”
Arjun warns he won’t be taking the Bollywood route alone on his show. “I want to invite cricketers, politicians and celebrities from every walk of life. When

I wrap up my season of the show, I want to feel I’ve done something beyond just an ordinary chat show.”

Diverse genres in 2012

Akshay Kumar had just three releases this year [PATIALA HOUSE in January, THANK YOU in April, DESI BOYZ in November], but the busy actor will have as many as five releases in 2012, starting with HOUSEFULL-2 in April, ROWDY RATHORE in June, JOKER in August, KHILADI 786 in Diwali and ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI-2 [its release date is not finalized yet]. Of course, it’s not wise to have so many releases in a single year, but Akshay defends his decision.

Says the charismatic actor, “A couple of films were slated for release this year, but got shifted to next year. Besides, I like to complete a film and move over to the next project pronto. I agree, it’s not right to have a new film releasing every two/three months, but I don’t like to delay my films or keep them on hold if the shooting is complete. I can’t play such ruthless games for the sake of my career.”

But the best part is that each of those belongs to diverse genres. Did Akshay plan it that way? Akshay states with utmost honesty, “I’ve never planned these things. Nor do I have a strategy that I need to work in diverse genres. These films were offered to me, I took them up, it’s just a coincidence that each of those belong to varied genres.”

Randeep Hooda takes tips from Sehwag for his character in Heroine

25.11.11 / Bollywood / Author: / Comments: (0)

Randeep Hooda is not known as a method actor for nothing. For his role of the cricketer in Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine, Randeep has not only decided to model his character on the ace-batsman, he has also resolved to take close guidance and tips from Virendra Sehwag to play his character convincingly.

Ever since he signed the role two weeks ago, Randeep has been on the phone constantly with Sehwag picking the cricketer’s brain to understand how a batsman’s mind, heart and body work in unison.

On Thursday, Randeep and his acting mentor Naseruddin Shah trooped down to the Wankhede Stadium to watch Sehwag play in the India-West-Indies test match.

After the match, Randeep spent invaluable time studying his cricketing idol. Says Randeep, “It was an awesome moment, my acting mentor Naseer besides me and my cricket idol on the field…I’ve always felt a deep affinity to Virender Sehwag .We’re both Jats from Haryana and we’re both self-made, I in my own humble way, he of course on a much larger scale. Just watching him on the field is so inspiring. Virender is not just a great batsman, he’s an entertainer on the field. I firmly believe whether you’re an actor or cricketer you’ve to entertain people in your field. I think Virender does that very well.”

Randeep not only admits Sehwag would be the role model for his performance he would also be using Virender’s bat!

“That’s right!” admits Randeep. “I’ve asked Virender to give me one of his bats which I’d be using in Heroine. He has kindly agreed to do. I’ve to tell you. I’m very excited about this role because like every Indian boy, I played cricket in school and college. When Sehwag became national champ Haryana’s chest swelled with pride. Now by playing a cricketer, I feel I am fulfilling a dream that Sehwag has already fulfilled for us.”
