Producer Vinod Bachchan’s film Zilla Ghaziabad staring Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi has run into legal trouble. A legal notice has been sent to Vinod and his production house Soundarya Films by Krishna Devi, wife of the alleged UP gangster Mahinder Singh Fauji to stop the film as it is reportedly based on Fauji’s life.

Mahinder Singh Fauji was reportedly a UP gangster, who was killed in a gang war in Ghaziabad 15 years ago. As his family got to know that a film is being made called Zilla Ghaziabad, which is based on the gang wars of the 90′s and Arshad Warsi plays the role of a character named Fauji, they decided to take immediate action.

Krishna Devi has petitioned the Delhi High Court to halt the film as they are worried it might show Fauji in bad light. However, Vinid Bachchan maintains that his film is a pure work of fiction.

Even as Farhan Akhtar’s eagerly awaited SRK starrer Don 2 opened across cinema halls in the U.K. yesterday and is all set for a worldwide release tomorrow (Dec 23), the makers are still awaiting the verdict whether they would have to pay any compensation based on the case filed against them by Nariman Films and the Irani Family (makers of the original Don)

Even though the Bombay High Court cleared the release of the film a decision on damages to be paid if any will be taken today by division bench of Chief Justice Mohit Shah and justice Roshan Dalvi. Nariman Films and the Irani Family had claimed damages to the extent of Rs.200 crores for violating copyrights by adopting the Don signature tune, songs of the original Don and also copying its script, characters and music without prior intimation, further stating that the rights of the said script were given only for the remake and not for the sequel.

It remains to be seen if the makers of Don 2 have to cough up some amount as compensation, the decision of which would be taken later today.

Aashiqui 2 to be directed by Mohit Suri

You may recall that the 90s era was called the musical era. One of the films that contributed majorly towards this was the musical smash hit Aashiqui that made overnight superstars out of Rahul Roy, Anu Agarwal and music composers Nadeem-Shravan. As the current trend of sequels and remakes go, this film too was under consideration for long to be remade. But the makers of the film were stuck up with the man who will be wielding the directors’ hat.

Initially, it was the debutante director Vishal Mahadkar who was the chosen one by the Bhatts, but now, the latest development is that he has now been replaced by their blue eyed boy Mohit Suri. Mahesh Bhatt has gone on record to say that they had earlier finalized Vishal for the project, but now they have scrapped that idea and found a fresh one. And that’s the reason that, post Murder 2, they got Mohit to direct the film. He also added that they will be launching a new boy and new girl with the film. And for that, a massive hunt is in the process of being launched.

Aashiqui 2 will also see the coming together of the Bhatts with the music label T-Series after over twenty years, since Aashiqui was also the last film that the Bhatts did in association with them. With the BO record and the cult status that Aashiqui has, it’s needless to say that all the eyes will now be on Mohit Suri, if he will be able to recreate the same magic.
