Secret #1: Blending is key
Ok, well I sorta knew this, but I wasn’t sure HOW TO BLEND. You use three different colors: The base, usually a very light taupe, a highlighter for the crease and a main color for the lid, but how to get them to look as if they merge into each other like the colors of a rainbow? My secret: Start light then go darker. Brush the base color, apply the lid color and THEN apply the highlighter. Also, don’t be too heavy-handed or you’ll have to start over. Extra tip: Practice makes perfect. Play with your makeup a few days before a big event.
Secret #2: Choose shadows that make the color of your eyes pop
Gone are the days when beauty experts advised against blue shadow. Matching the color of your eye with a shadow actually brings the color out (think blue shadow on blue eyes). At the same time, contrasting colors make eyes pop too (think a deep jeweled blue shadow on deep brown eyes).
Secret #3: Never cover your browbone with deep color — unless you’re doing a cover shoot for Vogue
You don’t want the drama too much shadow brings. Apply shadow up to the browbone but don’t apply shadow ON the bone unless it’s a neutral color or a highlighter.
Secret #4: Highlighter can make or break your look
When applying dark shadow to the crease of your eye, be careful to blend only on the outside edge. Get to close to the eye and you’ll cause your eyes to look teeny and beady.
Secret #5: Set shadow with a great base
Primers are super hot right now because they help set makeup that stays for hours. I’ve found the secret to keeping shadow in place for hours is a shadow base. Almost everyone makes them but I swear by MAC Paints.
Secret #6: Shimmer is hot, but plays up wrinkles
Shimmer makes eyes really pop, but it also highlights heavy lids, lines and wrinkles. A great look for shimmer is to create a ‘nude’ lid, but apply a bit of gold shimmer to the browbone. Gorgeous!
Secret #7: Smokey is great, but keep it to the lid
Making up a smokey eye? Keep color to the lid and just under the lower lashline. Don’t extend color above the crease.
Secret #8: How to pair shadow with red lips
Remember the beauty rule ‘Thou Shalt Not Play up the Lips AND the Mouth.’ If you’re going for dramatic red lips (never out of fashion), cover unsightly blue lines on lids with a concealer or shadow primer and then keep eyeshadow light.
Secret #9: Make eyes brighter with white
A dot of white shadow or pencil on the inside of the eye near the tear duct will make eyes look brighter.
Secret #10: Go for color Taupe and lavender look great on all eye colors.
Also consider mixing shades if you bought a color that’s just too bold for you. Mixing an electric blue with taupe can turn out the most perfect color.

* Avoid 100% cotton
Cotton tends to fade as time passes. In addition to holding the dye longer and more completely with a higher luster, cotton with Lycra or mercerized cotton has greater strength and shrinks less.
* Prefer wool blends
Wool fabrics create deeper and richer blacks. Since wool retains dyes better and longer, fading is less of a problem. Suits, skirts, and sweaters look exceptionally classy in woolen fabrics, and will last for years.
* Toss faded clothing immediately
Clothing that has faded simply does not blend as well. Rather than risk looking tacky, toss the item and replace it with something exciting.
* Match completely
Black clothing often presents a cast or shine of a different color, for example, purple, green, or brown. Therefore, you should take the time to match your clothing carefully when creating an all black outfit.
* Minimize fading
Dark colors, especially black, should always be laundered in cold water to minimize fading. When washing an article of clothing for the first time, you can add a cup of vinegar to help set the dye. Dry cleaning, also, takes less of a toll on the dye and will help to keep your clothes looking fresh longer.
* Maximize appeal
Wearing black can create a sleek and mysterious vision, or it can create a picture that says too many words. Maintain the care of your outfits carefully. Avoid the build up of lint of all kinds through carefully laundering and matching up of your outfits.
* Accessorize to add a heightened look of elegance
Even the word, embellishment sounds pretty. Imagine what it can do for your outfit! Glitz and glitter add an air of excitement, so add a few unique pieces of jewelry, a snazzy purse, or stylish shoes to top off the perfect outfit.

Most Common Fashion Mistakes
Fashion mistakes happen. I have committed them, and I am sure that you have, too. Your mother has had them, your friends and co-workers have had them. Even celebrities and top runway models make their boo-boos every now and then.
Fashion mistakes happen. But why does it happen for us? Well, it could be because we liked an outfit that we saw on TV or on a magazine and thought it would work well on us too. Maybe we spotted something really nice and dressy while window shopping and bought it out of impulse. Maybe we listened to our mothers or our best friends even though the little voices inside our head are screaming that we should not follow their advice. It could be any reason.
But as inevitable as they may seem to be sometimes, fashion mistakes do not have to happen all the time. Careful attention to detail is all it takes.
Here are some of the most common fashion mistakes that we can commit, or have perhaps committed at some time:-
Unsuitable colors:
A certain color or a certain shade may look pleasing to the eye. However, there are some colors that suit only certain skin tones; they would look disastrous on others. The tip here is to try out colors and to pick the ones that suit your skin tone. Never choose colors that make you too pale or washed out.
Unfitting clothes:
If you are a plus size person, stick to the plus sizes and quit squeezing yourself into clothes that do not give you room to move. Sure it may look okay while you are standing up, but when you sit down, accidents can happen. An unwanted bulge may show or worse, a button or a seam could pop.
Inappropriate makeup:
What time of the day is it? Are you going to work, an afternoon date at the park, to the gym, to a party, or to a rock concert? The key to correct makeup is that it should be light at daytime and heavy at night. Also, wear colors that flatter your face and match your outfit.
Scruffy shoes:
Nothing ruins an outfit more than a pair of dirty or rundown shoes. Keep your shoes clean; leather shoes should always look polished. If your shoes need repair, take them to a repair shop at once. Also, quality beats quantity; invest in a good pair of shoes even if they are pricey. They will last longer than the shoes you buy in thrift stores.
Odd nails:
Fingernails should be properly filed and kept at a decent length. If you polish your nails, take the time to repair the chipped paint or do them over as soon as possible when you get home. Use sedate colors on your nails for going to work on weekdays; bright and funky colors should be left for the weekends.
Slipping slips:
When you wear a slip, make sure that it does not show beneath the hem of your skirt and that they fit snuggly around your waist. Best buy them in different lengths. To make it seem that you are not wearing a slip, wear one that matches the color of your dress or skirt.
